A thin film of gelcoat, typically about half a millimeter, is the main protection a laminate has from chemical attack, weathering and abrasion. Care in the application and selection of a quality gelcoat is therefore critical. It is this dependable quality that has made Neogel the natural choice gelcoat for many of Europe’s leading GRP fabricators. Neogel gelcoats are distinguished by their technical superiority and ease of handling, in producing laminates with a high gloss, weather and wear resistant finish. Formulated using specially developed polyester resins and selected pigments, Neogels exhibit excellent gloss, hardness, elasticity and durability.
Neogel Quality
Many products in the international range conform to the quality standards set by Lloyd’s register of shipping, Det Norske Veritas (DNV) or RINA. Grades are available suitable for brush, roller or spray application, either clear or pre-pigmented in a wide range of colour options. We also offer a customized colour matching service. Depending on the requirements of the end application, you can choose from standard orthophthalic grades, corrosion resistant isophthalic or high performing ISO/NPG grades.
Neogel NPG
Neogel NPG (IsoNeopentylglycol) gelcoats will give maximum protection in all water contact applications such as boats, swimming pools, kitchen worktops and sanitary ware. A series of grades are available for manual or automatic application each having superior weathering resistance to surface yellowing and chalking, combined with excellent long term resistance to water immersion and osmotic blistering. Other distinguishing characteristics include superior air release, elasticity and mechanical properties. Wherever high performance is required, in terms of toughness, durability or corrosion protection, then Neogel NPG are the gelcoats to specify.
Grade names:
- Neogel 8373 (Spray grade)
- Neogel 8375 (Brush grade)
Neogel ISO
Neogel ISO gelcoats are high quality products designed to give excellent resistance to weather and corrosion. They are formulated isophthalic polyester resins. Isophthalic based structural resins have a long service history in tough environments and our gelcoats based on the same chemistry have performed equally well. Neogel ISO is easily applied with excellent leveling properties and minimal sag on vertical surfaces. It is available in brush or spray form. ISO gelcoats also show excellent resistance to weathering and can be used in a broad range of applications. Neogel ISO 2000 is approved by the Lloyd’s Register of Shipping and by the Water Research Council for potable water applications.
Grade names:
- Neogel 2000 (Brush grade)
- Neogel 2500 (Spray grade, fast cure)
Neogel ISI
As the name suggests Neogel ISI gelcoats are easy to apply in brush or spray form and are ideally suited to general purpose applications in transportation, furniture or industrial sectors. All Neogel ISI gelcoats are formulated with a mixture of isophthalic and orthophthalic resins, are DNV approved, and are available in an extensive range of versions and colours.
Grade names:
- Neogel 8378 (Spray type)
- Neogel 8379 (Brush type)
Neogel IND
Neogel IND (industrial) series orthophthalic gelcoats can be used for moulded surfaces which are to be painted afterwards. They are easily applied by brush or spray and exhibit good opacity, low fibre print through and freedom from porosity. Neogel IND is easily sanded and provides an ideal surface for painting. Excellent adhesion is achieved, even without primer.
Grades available:
- Neogel 8370 (Brush grade)
- Neogel 8371 (Spray grade)
Neogel CS
Neogel CS gelcoats have been developed specifically for the manufacture of GRP moulds. They are characterised by their excellent resistance to styrene, high strength and long lasting, high gloss finish. When moulds are properly prepared (suitable back up resin and design), Neogel CS can help reduce wear or cracking, even after extensive use. Self-release, spray and brush versions of the popular, pre-accelerated tooling gelcoat are available. Neogel CS should be backed up with a high heat distortion Synolite resin.
Grades available:
- Neogel 8395 (Brush grade)
- Neogel 8396 (Spray grade)
Neogel FR
Neogel FR is a specially formulated range of ISO/NPG resins designed for use in the construction, building and transportation industries. Neogel FR can be spray applied using conventional equipment or hand applied by brush or roller. Excellent flame-retardant properties, make Neogel FR an ideal gelcoat to use with DSM’s fire retardant range of resins to produce composite systems which meet recognized fire safety standards. Mouldings made from Neogel FR have an attractive, semi-gloss finish with good weatherability and mechanical properties.
