QUALIFICATION AND TRAINING PROCESS


Step 1: Learn the Skills in Boat Building

Our Boat Building Programme consists of four modules and is carried out at the following sites for a total duration of 48 weeks (including 4 weeks holiday):

  • Health and Safety: JIA, Auckland City
  • Boat building Basics: JIA workshop. East Tamaki
  • Calculation, computing and drafting: JIA, Auckland City
  • Basic Boat building Practices (approx. 16.5 weeks): focusing on practical skills at our Helensville workplace.
 
Step 2: Gain Qualifications in Boat Building

Successful graduates will be awarded the Jireh International Academy Certificate in Boat Building Level 4 with 136 credits recognized by NZQA. Aligned with the boat building qualification the following certificates will also be awarded: First Aid Certificate, Site Safe Passport and HILTI Certificate which are essential for employment in the boat building industry.

 
Step 3: Get a Job

Following on from the 3 month period of work experience, JIA prides itself in placing students into apprenticeships and assisting students wishing to gain full-time employment.
