Homestay
For student who would like to experience living with a local family, this is a great option. You would possibly eat and spend time with your homestay family and have opportunities to practice your English in a living situation. Your homestay will provide you with:
- your own room including a bed, cupboard and study desk with lamp,
- meals for Mon - Fri: breakfast, evening meal (lunch: optional),

- limited use of homestay or your own computer.
The homestay company used by JIA is International Homestay (2004) Ltd. The company provides a full service and a copy of their handbook. All homestays have been inspected and approved by our accommodation agents.
Hostel
If you want independence, you may rent a room or share a room. The rent you pay will usually cover access to cooking, cleaning and bathing facilities.
In most hostels you can come and go as you please. You would have to do your own cooking or go out to eat. You may meet students or tourists from lots of different countries while living in a hostel.
Apartment/Flat
If you wish to stay in Auckland for a long period of time, you may prefer to look for an apartment/flat located in Auckland city. Students rent it from an agent or apartment landlord and may choose to split the cost of the whole apartment by divining the rent by the number of people who live in it. You may need to cook your own food or dine out.
